 Barracking for the Umpire

Shire of Broome presents a Black Swan State Theatre Company production. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! After a best on ground performance in 2022, Barracking for the Umpire returns for an encore Perth season before hitting the road on a regional WA tour. This family drama tackles head-on the fragility of the human body and the impacts of the great game on our players, our family, and our community. Donnybrook Football Club is set to honour its greatest son – Doug Williams. Hard as flint. Salt of the earth. Wife, Delveen, by his side, riding every bump with him. Feeling every head knock. All the kids are flying home to join the celebration. But after years of the game he loves, the sure hands of Williams are starting to fumble the ball. What are we willing to sacrifice for the great game? Gates/bar open 6pm Latecomers will have restricted entry Duration 90 mins. No interval Warnings: Dementia; - Amnesia; - Partial nudity; - Sexual references; - Use of theatrical fog; and, - Course language
